Human carcinoembryonic antigen-related cellular adhesion molecule 1（CEACAM1）is a member of the carcinoembryonic antigen family（CEA）which is a type I-transmembrane glycoprotein broadly expressed on the surface of cells including macrophages,neutrophilic granulocyte,lymphocyte,epithelial,and endothelial cells.It is an adhesion molecule of immunoglobulin superfamily.The extracellular domain of CEACAM1 contains IgG-like structure.The long form of CEACAM1 protein has two immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibitory motifs（ITIMs）that have crucial roles in immuno-regulation,vascular neogenesis,vascular remolding,cell apoptosis regulation,gland lumen formation and insulin clearance.CEACAM1 is also a receptor for pathogenic bacteria and viruses.
