Firstly, this paper introduced basic principle of DVC scheme. Secondly, listed the development in recent five years, reported the system diagram and achievements of several working teams in this field. Finally, fore casted the trend of the DVC technique forecasted, highlighted some key points of this area and expected a flourish application in information security and encoding for robust video transmission systems.
