In this paper,modeling problem associated with Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) with smooth-air-gap is first studied.The research on the dynamic model in PMSM has shown there exists chaotic behavior under certain The performance of PMSM will be degraded due to the presence of chaos,chaotic processes should be avoided.Then,the sliding mode variable structure controller is designed to direct the chaotic states of PMSM to equilibrium in the attractor basin.Finally, the developed method is checked against computer simulation experiments to verify its validity.
