Optically pumped semiconductor vertical - external - cavity surface - emitting lasers (OPS - VECSEL) wich could-generate the ultra - short pulse are presented. The characteristics and development of OPS - VECSEL are demonstrated about the laser's pulse width, average output power, output wavelength and pulse repetition frequency. Furthermore, we point out the further development direction in the area.
