Objective： To observe the clinical curative effect of capsule of total saponins of gynostemma pentaphyllum on high cholesterol. Methods： Forty-eight patients with high cholesterol were randomly divided into the original dose group and the increased dose group,with 24 cases in each group. All the patients in both groups were treated with capsule of total saponins of gynostemma pentaphyllum. The ones in the original dose group took 1 granule each time and 3 times a day; While the ones in the increased dose group took 4 granules each time and 3 times a day. Results： The effective rate of the increased dose group was 91. 7%,while that of the original dose group was 62. 5%; And the increased dose group was much higher than the original dose group（ P〈0. 05）. After the treatment,TC,TG and HDL-C of the increased dose group were significantly better than those of the original dose group（ P〈0. 05）. Conclusion： Capsule of total saponins of gynostemma pentaphyllum has good curative effect on high cholesterol,and increasing its clinical amount can improve the function of reducing high cholesterol.
