With the rising strategy in central region and development along the Changjiang River being carried on, the area along the Changjiang River made great progress in Anhui Province. It was necessary to divide the ecological function to assort the economy development with the environment protection. Supported with GIS, indexes（ such as mountain area, water density, etc. ） were selected, adopting the regionalization method of eco - environmental restriction, there were 41 counties regarded as the basic units to be evaluated.After evaluating, the area along the Changjiang River in Anhui Province was divided into the 4 ecological function areas and the 14 ecological function subareas. The division was very meaningful for the scientific management to the area along the Changjiang River in Anhui Province and was very important to protect the sustainable social economy developments.
