OBJECTIVE To investigate the relationship between the contents and distribution of inorganic elements in Angelica sinensis and its growing environment. METIIODS The contents of Zn, Fe, Mn, Mg, N1, Ga, Na, K and Cu in 95 batches of Angelica sinensis from different growing environment were determined by microwave digestion-atomic absorption spectroscopy, and principal component analysis and cluster analysis were used for analysis. RESULTS The results of principal component analysis showed that Mn, Mg, Ni and K were the characteristic elements in Angelica sinensis. The results of systematic cluster analysis showed that 95 batches of Angelica sinensis were clustered into 4 different groups. The main soil types of group Ⅰ were black soil and black sandy-soil, group Ⅱ were cinnamon sandy-loam, cinnamon soil and haplic kastanozems, group Ⅲ was haplic kastanozems, and group Ⅳ were loess and loessial soil. CONCLUSION The distribution of inorganic elements in Angelica sinensis is closely related to the types of its growing soil.
