Objectives To evaluate the incidence of catamenial pneumothorax？ （CPTX） among women who have been referred for the surgical treatment of spontaneous pneumothorax （CPTX） and to study its Clinical features, treatment and prognosis. Methods A prospective study of women of reproductive age who have been referred to JiangSu Province Hospital for the surgical treatment of CPTX. Results CPTX is a rare clinical condition, Four catamenial pneumothorax patients were treated satisfactory by the muhidisciplinary meas- ures. Conclusions Spontaneous, recurring pneumothorax in women with no previous history of endometriosis can be the first manifestation of pleural endometriosis. The disorder requires surgical intervention, but early diagnosis and postoperative hormonal therapy are just as important for a successful outcome.
