受文化因素的制约,汉语隐喻移植于英语时,大致表现为可译与不可译两种情况;同时隐喻也是心理现象,译者的民族心理定势及个性化的情感体验会导致对同一隐喻的不同心理感知与联想,进而在理解与表达上造成一定的差异.因此,隐喻翻译不应以求同为目的,而应以文化和心理两方面的适切性为目标.
The translation of metaphor takes on two trends of translatable and untranslatable qualities when Chinese metaphor is being transplanted into English. And metaphor is a psychological phenomenon, in which the translator' s cultural values, national psycho-orlentation and his/her personalized emotional experience will all contribute to his/ her diverse psychological perception and association on the ground of which different understanding and expression occur. Therefore, the aptness in terms of culture and psychology is the criteria for the translatability of metaphor instead of equivalence.
