Image sparse representation is the ability to capture significant information of an object of interest in a small description, which describes the signal using linear combination of a small amount of elements by the base or in the dictionary. Recently, image sparse representation has been the hot topic of image representation. This paper is a literature review, in which signal sparse representation and image sparse representation basic theory, the application of compression are illustrated. Finally, we introduce a new kind of image poisson denoising using sparse representations.
