Several common bionic algorithms （PSO, ACA） and several recent bionic algorithms （PGSA, AIA） are introduced. The principle of bionic algorithms and its improvement are reviewed. Then, the application of bionic algorithms to optimal operation of reservoirs is discussed, as well as the existing problems. Finally, some comments are made on further research contents.
