The operation principle and main part of platinum based busing using in glass fibre industry is intro- duced. The traditional experience method for bushing design and optimization has been mainly adopted for many years. In recent years, the finite element method was used in design and optimization of bushing. The basic course and step of bushing design and optimization for both the traditional experience method and the finite element method are given in detail. The instance of design and optimization bushing by using the finite element method is provided. Through comparing traditional method with the finite element method, it indicates that the finite element method will be the development direction of bushing design and optimize method.
