In recent years, with more researches carried out on growth traits in dairy cattle, the economic importance of growth traits in dairy industry had been highlighted, and the genetic analysis of growth trait in dairy cattle gradually gained its essential position. This paper summarized how growth traits are related to efficiency in dairy breeding, and reviewed the measurements of growth, models and methodology in estimating the genetic parameters of growth traits, and their general results in dairy cattle.
