Immunoprophylaxis is an economical, quick and effective method to control echinococcosis. In recent years, great progress has been made in 'both immunology and vaccine development of echinococcosis. The molecular vaccine becomes to be an ideal method to prevent the epidemic of hydatid disease, and the vaccine EgA31 is one of promise candidates for the vaccine development. The molecular biological characteristic of EgA31 antigen including genetic structure and immune specificity is reviewed in this paper
