The HDPE/LDH nanocomposites were synthesized with the melt-intercalation method. The XRD and TEM analysis demonstrate that completely exfoliated HDPE/LDH nanocomposites can be obtained with a LDH loading below 5 wt%. The TGA profiles show that the HDPE/LDH nanocomposites thus obtained have greater thermal stability than pure HDPE. When the 50% weight loss was selected as a comparison point, the decomposition temperature of HDPE/LDH sample with 5 wt% LDH loading is ca. 40℃ higher than that of the pure HDPE sample.
