This article studied one kind of binary mixture BY - 2, which was environmentally - friendly and performed well than R22. Measurements were done with the same machine at the standard air - conditioning condition, the coefficient of performance (COP) of BY -2 was only 1.7% lower than R22, but its cooling capacity was 14.6% higher than R22; its COP was both 8% higher than R410A and R32. Moreover, the results in low temperature zones showed that: the COP of BY- 2 was slightly lower than R22, but BY - 2 can reach a much lower temperature which R22 can not reach to. And the refrigerating speed of BY - 2 was 35.9% faster than R22. Therefore, BY - 2 could be considered as a promising alternative refrigerant to R22.
