The karyotypes of Pseudoroegneria geniculata ,P. geniculata ssp. scythica and P. geniculata ssp. pruinifera were studied. The results indicated that: P. geniculata and P. geniculata ssp. scythica were tetraploids,while P. geniculata ssp. pruinifera was hexaploid; The karyotype formulas of P. geniculata, P. geniculata ssp. scythica and P. geniculata ssp. pruini fera were 2n=4x=28=18m(2sat) +10sm(2sat), 2n=4x=28=28m(2sat) and 2n=6x=42=36m(6sat)+6sm(2sat),respectively;The karyotype of P. geniculata and P. geniculata ssp. pruinifera were 2A types, while P. geniculata ssp. scythica was 1A type. This demonstrated that there were variations among the kayotypes of the three taxa;The kayotype of P. geniculata ssp. pruinifera was first reported,and was obviously different to that of P. geniculata and P. geniculata ssp. scythica.
