An optimal inputting rate control problem for a class of population system with time delay and age distribution is considered. The continuous dependence of the solution on control variable is discussed by using the characteristic method, and by analyzing the adjoint system and using the conception of normal cone, the necessary condition for inputting control to be optimal is obtained.
