陕西北部地区明代属榆林镇军事辖区。辖区内明长城沿线密布着大大小小几十个军事聚落，清朝中前期军制改革，军事聚落也相应转化为行政辖区，并逐渐演化为现代城镇。军事聚落的空间分布、形态结构和规模等建筑要素较完整地遗留至今，其中蕴含的丰富历史信息是研究现在城镇布局的重要因素。
英文摘要：
The north area of Shaanxi Province was in Yulinzhen in Ming Dynasty. There are scores of military settlements in these areas along the Great Wall which had changed into administration districts now, furthermore these settlements are becoming modern times town. The space distributions, form structures and scales of military settlements still exist today which provides important information to modern time＇ s towns overall agreement research.
