On the basis of sorting and analyzing the definitions and categorizations related to collective behaviors home and abroad,the article proposes a more comprehensive and better-fitting categorization framework for collective behaviors against the contemporary social background of China.The authors hold that collective behaviors fall into the category of non-systematic collective action that includes mass crowd events.It is hoped that this categorization framework would become one of the reference frameworks for studies on collective behaviors and for academic exchanges in the future.
