In order to have an improved understanding of the NVU which is the structural and functional unit of the nervous system, the review introduces the component of the NVU, the pathological reactions,interactions and signal transductions of every parts of the NVU after stroke. This review also describes every components＇ changes of the NVU in the pathological progress of stroke,and comes up with muhipath and many-sided protections, with the hope of getting a better effect of stroke treatment.
