Pragmatism,an educational thought,began to develop in the late nineeenth century in the United States.Its important developer Dewey proposed ideas regarding empiricism and essence if education,which have exerted a worldwide influence on education.Active application of Dewey＇s pragmatic principle to new curriculum reform is of practical significance： It helps cultivate students＇ creative thinking ability and attach importance to such aspects as practice,humanities in education and pragmatism in curriculum development.
