Competence-based theory explains the formation of the competitive advantage effectively ,but fails to concern the entrepreneur's contribution to the firm's growth. This paper adds the entrepreneurial competence into the competence-based model, which points out that entrepreneurs will carry out double function during the firm's growth, on one side, promoting the firm's growth indirectly through nurturing the organizational competence, on the other side, contributing to competitive advantage directly.
