＂Teacher Education Curriculum Standard （Trial）＂ puts forward specific requirements for the professional development of the pre-service middle school teachers. Looking from four core elements： teachers＇ professional affection, teachers＇ professional knowledge, teachers＇ professional ability and their physical and mental quality, this thesis investigates 794 free normal students in normal university on their professional development. Ways to promote the free normal students＇ professional development are as follows： optimizing free normal students＇ education curriculum structure; improving free normal students＇ practical education curriculum; innovating free normal students＇ occupational skill training mechanism; making clear free normal students＇ professional development direction; establishing a quality control system for the free normal students＇ professional development.
