The Wigner Ville distribution （WVD） is an important mean of time - frequency analysis, but the cross - term interference in WVD has a great influence on its application. On the basis of the analysis of wavelet packet, this article offers a new met.hod to time frequency analysis. This method uses wavelet packet decomposing the WVD of the signal and reconstructing the time frequency diagram according to the decomposition coefficient. It can remove cross - term efficiently. Theoretical analysis and experimental results proved the validity of the method.
