Source authentication is a fundamental issue for multieast security and group security. Overlay muhicast is an emerged net- work group communication. In this paper, we present a source authentication scheme for overlay muhicast （SASOM） based on the hash chaining and hierarchical transferring, and analyze the security and performance of the scheme.
