Based on a large number of industrial case studies, the patterns of bio-pharmaceutical open innovation related to diversified innovation participants have been summarized and analyzed, including the green screening gate, crowdsourcing through social media, data sharing, ＂merging, spinning-off, alliance, technology transformation＂, cooperation in same problem, and research outsourcing. Then, the stages in innovation chain, which specific patterns involved, have been disentangled. The formation mechanisms, functions for innovation and operation methods of each pattern have been investigated. In the end, the practical ways in which innovation participants in China take part in open innovation have been brought forward.
