In order to clarify the effects of insects on Lithocarpus seed predationbeforediffusion,moth damagecondi- tions of three species of Lithocarpus genus of Yunnan Ailao Mountain area were measured. The results showed that the main predators for the Lithocarpus speciesincluded Curculio spp. , Hylobius Germar and Cynipid. Among these insects, Curculio spp. was the main insect seed predators, but the damage caused by the other two insect groups was relatively smaller. These results indicated that the predation of the insects beforediffusion on the seeds of Lithocarpus seed might have importanf effects on the fate of the seeds.
