The core theory of the paraphrasing strategy advanced by French paraphrasing school is interpreting based on deverbalization,which is one of the most effective strategies in interpreting process. Most Chinese idiomatic expressions are involved in culture,history,classical allusions,etc.,which are vacant in English.And the demand of extemporaneousness and instantaneity of interpreting requests a good control over effort distribution.All of these,therefore,put stress on interpreting.Based on examples of the consecutive interpreting of Premier Li Keqiang＇s 2016 Press Conference,the interpreting of Chinese three-character and four-character expressions handled by the interpreter is analysed to get some insight of how paraphrasing strategy works and what effect it achieves.
