Objective： To evaluate the change of the total productivity in township hospitals and its reasons. Methods： Malmquist model based on the Data Envelopment Analysis was used to analyze the efficiency change of 30 sample township hospitals from 2009 to 2012. Results： From 2009 to 2012, the average total factor productivity index was less than 1. The average total factor productivity was 1.058 in 2012, the total factor productivity of 21 township hospitals in was beyond 1. Conclusion： The progress of technology was the main reason for improving the total factor productivity.
