To find highly efficient luminescent materials, three tetraphenyllporphyrin derivatives, including electronic withdrawing substituent (-NO2) and electronic donating substitute (-OCH3) were synthesized by improved methods of Alder. Their structures have been fully characterized by FT-IR, MS and elemental analysis. The electronic absorption and fluorescence and eletrochemical properties of these compounds have been systematically investigated. The relationships between their photophysical properties and structures have been discussed.
