Xin Xiu Yu Pian （《新修玉篇》） is a vitally official dictionary in the Jin Dynasty, which takes a significant position in the history of Chinese dictionaries. It includes a great deal of folk words whose correct characters were unknown, and because of this we are unable to understand the origin of their evolution, although their forms, pronunciations, meanings have no problem. On the basis of the comprehensive and systematic study of Xin Xiu Yu Pian, the paper examines 23 folk words from the aspects of their forms, pronunciations, meanings which provided by Xin Xiu Yu Pian.
