The model of waterway transit capacity was developed on basis of ship＇ s behavior to accord with the actual situation of the harbor channel by analysing the characteristics of the harbor system and the ship traffic flow. Some concepts about ship behavior were defined, and simulation experiments were carried out according to historical data of one major domestic harbor. Results show that the proposed model can better simulate the actual traffic flow of the harbor channel, which has an important theoretical value and practical significance in calculation, assessment and prediction of waterway transit capacity.
