Stratum, an important archeological term, can be employed to unveil the historical facts lying there. A historical city would have a range of ‘cascades’ that have stored what had happened over time. Let the stratum talk would enable history to speak, unveiling what had happened in a historical city. This paper discusses a range of issues concerning the protection of the national heritage Yangzhou old sites （from SuiTang to Song Dynasties） and features of historical city Yangzhou using a combined methodology of cascading, revealing, matching, and featuring.
