The concepts,methods,and applications of self-organization theory were briefly introduccd in biological systems,including the thermodynamic basis of self-organization theory,the deterministic dynamical methods,the stochastic description,and the multi-agents simulation method.As a case study,the spiral wave in excitable media was discussed.The recent development and its applications in various research areas were also briefly presented.
