Based on mutual relationship between urban rail transit and urban spatial pattern, the paper provides a comparative review of the rail transit development indexes among eight domestic and foreign typical cities （region）, It probes into the interaction between urban spatial development and urban mass transit on a case study of Guangzhou, which provides references of coordinated development between urban rail transport and urban space for Guangzhou and other domestic cities.
