The welfare-based ideal is an important part of the social welfare culture. The welfarebased ideal of the Chinese nation has not only a long history, but also distinctive characteristics. The ideal of＂Five-Happinesses＂ in The Book of Documents （Shang Shu） is both a symbol of the traditional Chinese welfare ideal, and the core of the Chinese traditional ＂happiness culture＂. ＂Five-Happinesses＂ refers to longevity, wealth, health, good virtue and natural death, covering the basic elements of human happiness and getting enriched in the social welfare practice of the Chinese nation, whose four characteristics are the emphasis on the people＇s livelihood, perfect goals, hierarchical orders, and dialectical thinking, playing a key role in the traditional welfare practice of the Chinese society. The ideal of ＂Five-Happinesses＂ still has much enlightening significance for the construction of ＂China in happiness＂ and a modern social welfare system with Chinese characteristics as well as the realization of the great ＂Chinese dream＂, that is, the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
