A new modified model reference adaptive control scheme aimed at improving the transient performance of adaptive systems was proposed in the paper. The switched adaptive law and the statistic compensator in the new scheme eliminate the undesirable phenomena, such as reducing the amplitude of oscillation and regulate time during the initial stages of adaptation, which improve the rate of convergence of trace error and the transient behavior, then robustness and tracking performance are enhanced obviously.
