回顾了美国城市规划专业教育从20世纪初期诞生以来的发展历程,从时代背景、理论发展、教学内容和方式等方面梳理了百年来美国规划教育的起步、发展、高峰、低谷和再生,特别关注二战后美国规划教育一个重要的转折点,由于社会的批判和相关社会科学,尤其是公共政策领域专业的兴起对规划教育基本价值观、内容和重心的影响,相继而来1970年代走入低谷,并以此反思中国规划教育,希望对当前和未来的中国规划教育改革有所启示和借鉴。
This article provides a historical reviewof the development of American urban planning education since the early 20th century, including its birth, growth, heydays, decline and revival. Special attention has been paid to the 1960s and 1970s as it was the turning point of American planning education_In particular, it was a period when design studio or workshop retreated from the planning education as a result of urban renewal failures, crossdisciplinary fertilization and mounting social critiques. The implications of the American experience are explored and some reflections on educating city planners in China in the future are discussed.
