Setting the background in the preparatory course period in an ethnic college, this paper discusses the necesity of undertaking social investigations during the teaching procedures of human geography, and also it introduces the specific steps to carry out it. The author believes that by applying the social investigation to the practical teaching process two positive effects will be achieved, which are students’ studying motivation and ability cultivation as well as teachers’ overall quality.
