As porphyrin analogue, corroles have superior chemical, physical and spectroscopic properties as their special structural features. Compared with hydrophobic corroles, water-soluble corroles showed better prospects in catalytical and biological applications. This article introduces the development of various kinds of water-soluble corroles, the synthesis of pyridyl-substituted corroles and sulfonated corroles, their properties and applicatins.
