As the improvement of pavement structure, permanent deformation of asphalt pavement is increasingly exposed. The study tries to establish the relationship of VCA and aggregates＇ shear strength and quantify the aggregates＇ strength by VCA. It shows that the general index of VCA is appro- priate to quantify the aggregates＇ strength, and with the advantages of simple operation and big quantity of information. The method is significant to guide the design and material selection of asphalt mixture.
