As an social education, community education is performed in community, aiming at improving the people＇s quality and life quality and promoting the joint development of communities. With the development of times, people increasing need social education. The advantages of open universities can be fully exploited by integrating open universities into social education. This paper proposes strategies of coordinated development and promotion for open universities and community education, and puts forward suggestions for improving the operating mechanism of community education from the following aspects： widening community education, innovating the education management mode, strengthening the construction of teaching staff, standardizing the operation of course and project, paying attention to resource integration,etc.
