The present study explored the effects of causal relations on category feature inference and typicality judgement using the study-test two-phase paradigm. The subject's were randomly assigned to the casual relation group and the control group; and the causal relation group was to learn causal relations between typical features of the category while the control group was to learn no causal relations. The results suggested that causal relations did influence category feature inference and typicality judgement, the essential reason for which was that the presence of causal relations resulted in the different status of feature dimensions located in different positions in the causal structure of category.
