The existence of folk beliefs is mainly constructed by the practice of oral narratives and rituals. The oral narratives strengthen basis for the rituals; while the rituals represent the faithfulness of the oral narratives. Absences of oral narratives bear a relation to the reasons why rituals are not lacking in explain their aims. Invention and oblivion, spread and variation, result in the emergence of a variety of ritual states in the relation between oral narrative and rituals: they sometimes are blended, and sometimes alienated. Therefore, although oral narrative and rituals are not fused in the specific text of a folk belief, they are internally integrated in a larger text of the folk belief, constructing a social memory of the folk belief. Of course, in the specific text of a folk belief, the close combination of oral narratives and rituals can construct a structure which is stable, durable, and rich in internal logic and artistic appeal for folk beliefs, and structure of this kind is more dynamic than the either existence of oral narratives or rituals.
