Calpain-3,also named as skeletal muscle-specific calpain,is a member of the calpain system.Calpain-3 has been shown to be involved in myogenesis and apoptosis,and it also plays a role in protein degradation.This article mainly reviewed the structure,function and physiological activity of calpain-3,combined with recent international research advances,to analyze the roles of calpain-3 in skeletal muscle protein degradation.
