As a city of immigrants, Hong Kong has a colonial history of 150 years. The then immigrants toHong Kong, now the citizens of Hong Kong, have been through some long-term psychological struggles andsurvival conflicts. As a result, the so-called "Hong Kong consciousness" reflects their spiritual outlook after somany survival confrontations, which is also the consciousness of confidence and localization. However, along withthe taking place of important events such as the "Sino-British Talks" and the transfer of sovereignty over HongKong's to China, the citizens of Hong Kong have undergone significant changes in their survival conditions, andthis has also given rise to the transformation of "Hong Kong consciousness" from confidence to confusion andfurther, frustration. By now, with the ever-deepening relationship between Hong Kong and the mainland, as wellas the much talked about "Chinese Dream," Hong Kong citizens should redefine their position and maintain agood relationship with the mainland. Inside the institutional framework of "one state, two systems", this will bethe rational way of developing the "Hong Kong consciousness."
