基于机会窗口的产业追赶模型,系统地给出了中国智能手机产业得以快速实现追赶的一个新解释。从部门创新系统角度,辨识出中国智能手机产业出现的各类追赶机会窗口,进而分别考察后发与在位企业对机会窗口的不同回应。研究表明,部门创新系统的演变导致机会窗口涌现,而机会窗口的开启辅以参与企业的战略回应,这将共同决定产业竞争格局的变迁。研究进一步指出,后发企业在追赶初期能否有效利用机会窗口,主要取决于可获取的外部高级知识以及可调用的互补性资产,而后期对机会窗口的持续把握则需要内在技术创新能力的支撑。
This study systematically presents a new interpretation of the rapid catching-up of the smartphone industry in China using a model of industrial catch-up based on windows of opportunity.From the view of sector innovation system,various types of windows of opportunity in the smartphone industry have been identified.Then we explore the different responses to the windows of opportunity,for latecomer and leading firms,respectively.Our results show that windows of opportunity emerge in the evolution of sector innovation system,and the opening of windows in combination with the strategic response by actors commonly makes the change of firms' competitive positions in industries.Furthermore,this paper points out that latecomer firms during their initial catching-up are able to make full use of windows of opportunity by leveraging the external advanced knowledge available and their complementary assets,while in the later stage of catching-up,inner innovation capabilities become essential for continuously taking advantage of these windows.
