美国城镇密集地区是城镇化发展进入成熟阶段以后的产物，其推动力量主要包括人口的增长、农业发展的推力和工业革命的引力、交通运输方式的变革、联邦政府的政策导向等。美国城镇密集地区的发展中存在土地资源浪费、生态环境污染、中心城区衰落、郊区建设非人性化、社会问题恶化等一系列问题。对此，我国当前的城镇密集地区发展必须树立辩证的认识观，明确可持续发展的指导思想和目标导向，把区域生态环境的保护问题放在首位，促进城镇化的健康发展。
英文摘要：
American high-density urban agglomeration region is a mature urbanization result. Its driving forces include population growth, agriculture development, industry revolution, transportation development, federal government policy etc. Its problems include waste of land resource, environment deterioration, central district decay, sprawl of suburbs, social problems etc. With the experience of America, China＇s high-density urban agglomeration region development shall stick to sustain-able development and protect ecological environment toward a healthy urbanization pattern.
