The externalist theory of intentional content maintains that the relation between mind and the external world is very important in determining the mental content. Both the external physical and social environment are the key compositional elements of intentional content. It has provided a good explanation for the problem of intentionali- ty. More importantly, it has made the great challenges to the traditional ideas about mind on ontology, epistemology and methodology, and finally gives us new insight into the problem of the relation between mind, body and the world.
